Dr Bethan Herbert (f)

Dr Bethan Herbert (Lead GP Partner) Qualified in 1987 MB:BS, MRCGP, DRCOG, PGCMed Ed One of the original GP partners involved in setting up the practice in 2000. She is a fluent Welsh speaker. Her special interests include women’s health, opiate replacement therapy and medical student teaching. She is also the lead practice GP for Cardiff South West Cluster and is part of the Transformation Project team. |
Dr Phil Ganderton (m)
MB BCh(Wales) MRCGP. Qualified in 1994. (GP Partner)
Dr Ganderton worked in several surgical specialities before training to be a GP. He joined the practice in September 2004. He carries out minor surgery procedures one Tuesday afternoon per month. |
Dr Deborah Vaughan (f)
MB BCh(Wales) MRCGP DRCOG DFFP. Qualified in 1988. (GP Partner)
She has worked in General Practice and Accident and Emergency for over 12 years before joining Canna Surgery. Her special interests include A&E, childhood illness and women's health. |
Dr Steve Davies (m)
Dr Stephen Davies MBBS (Lond), MRCGP (GP Partner) Dr Davies completed his GP training with us back in 2010. He has worked as a GP in the East of Cardiff for many years and also serves terms of office as a representative on both the Bro Taf LMC and GPC Wales. Dr Davies joined the practice as a GP Partner in September 2017. .jpg)

Dr Sherif Khalifa (m)
MB BCh, MRCGP (GP Partner) Dr Khalifa previously completed his GP training with us and has now joined us as a GP Partner. His has a special interest in Paediatrics.

Nurses
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears. |
Sister Lucy
Lucy joined us in September 2009 following many years working in hospitals and general practice. She undertakes childhood immunisations in Baby Clinic, and provides travel advice and vaccinations, pill checks, wound care, blood tests and smoking cessation advice. .jpg)

Annabelle joined us in March 2018 having previously worked as a District Nurse within the community.

Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure and ECGs. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. Lisa, one of our experienced Receptionists, undertakes the Role of Healthcare Assistant on a part time basis.

Practice Management
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care. |
Mr Christopher Williams (m)
Practice Manager. Mr. Williams joined the practice in 2008. He heads up the business side of the practice, and is resposible for providing business advice, managing the whole practice team and ensuring the efficient deployment of practice resources. He has an Accountancy background, and has also worked in the GP Out of Hours service. .jpg)

Assistant Practice Manager. Jane is responsible for supporting the Practice Manager and the smooth running of the Practice's operational functions, including staffing and deputises for the Practice Manager in his absence. |
Administration
Angela (f)
Angela is responsible for repeat prescriptions as well as having other administrative responsibilities

Pauline deals with all incoming mail and scans the details electronically into patient records. She also carries out general administration work on behalf of the practice . |

Community Midwives
Chrisgeena Driver (f)
Chrisgeena and the team of Community Midwives run Ante Natal Clinic at the surgery every Wednesday morning and undertake maternity bookings on Thursday mornings.. Contact Reception if you wish to make an appointment to see one of the Midwives. |
Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. |
